It’s been over 100 years since Martin Madshus shaped the finest timbers into works of wintery art with the original Madshus skis.

The make-up and variation within the raw goods has changed dramatically from the original wood trunks to today’s highly-controlled materials processes, but the principles remain the same. We use only the most well-defined and stable materials for the highest control of the production process and precision with the end product design.

Lacing Fingers

Lacing Fingers

Providing the best-fitting Nordic boots requires a lacing system that secures the entire foot. Madshus' Lacing Fingers reach far below the boot's visible lacing system to the bottom of the boot, securing the forefoot laterally and medially with balanced lacing tension.

NNN Outsole

NNN Outsole

With two guide rails and a broader binding plate, NNN offers maximum stability and control over the ski. The close contact between the boot, binding and ski (especially with the NIS plate system) provides optimal power transfer for a more efficient stride.

Integrated Carbon Base

The 3D-molded Integrated Carbon Base transfers every ounce of power directly into the ski, with unparalleled stability. The one-piece base matches the contour of the foot, wrapping around the heel, under the arch, and all the way through the forefoot. This minimizes the amount material between your foot and the ski for better power transfer and control.

Paulownia/ Carbon Hybrid Construction

Paulownia provides a lightweight ski core that helps create a lightweight and even density platform. The core is then surrounded by carbon reinforcement for an optimal weight to stiffness ratio.

Triaxial Braiding is still the best-known process of applying fiberglass to a core. The process starts by putting a core through the patented fiberglass sock, wrapping the core in interlocking woven strands of fiberglass and carbon fiber. Producing ski that has a great deal of torsional rigidity and strength, while maintaining the ski's lively feel and light weight.

Triaxial Carbon Construction contains a higher carbon content surrounding the core material. This creates a ski that is extremely lightweight, torsionally stiff, and lively. Madshus uses this construction on all of our Champion Series racing skis.

3D Construction

3D Construction is the unique process of shaping the ski's core to remove weight and channel stiffness and responsiveness in specific patterns for a precise tuning of a ski's torsional rigidity and flex.

Cap construction provides a structural cap to seal the top and sides of the ski over the core and surrounding materials. A classic ski base construction that uses a special factory-sanded, rubberized insert section in the kick zone of the skis. Its raised texture provides for more efficient traction in difficult waxing conditions.

PTex 2000 Electra Sintered Racing Base

The PTex 2000 Electra Sintered Racing Base uses polyethylene pellets pressed into a hard block and cut off into thin strips. This results in a very hard base that is relatively porous and accepts glide wax well, especially after numerous applications.

The MultiGrip (MG) base is Madshus' standard waxless base with a constant scale pattern along the whole length of the ski. This base will provide excellent grip in all snow conditions.

PR100X is an acrylic-based, high-performance Rohacell foam core, that was developed for extreme strength-to-weight applications in aeronautics. Reinforced with Triaxial Braiding Technology, the PR100X has extremely uniform density with no resin absorption, resulting in a super lightweight core, and excellent snow dampening abilities.
