Golberg has competed in cross-country skiing since he was seven years old, but also participates in other sports, such as golf and cycling. Golberg first entered the World Cup with the sprint in Drammen (NOR) in 2010. His first individual World Cup podium came one year later, with a third place in the sprint in Lahti (FIN). His first world Cup victory was on December 7, 2013, when he won the 15km classic event on home turf in Lillehammer (NOR). The next day, he helped Norway to third place in the relay at the same venue. Golberg was fifth in his first FIS World Championships in Val di Fiemme (ITA) in 2013, and competed in the 15km classic event at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi (RUS).
